Film is one of the most powerful mediums on the planet for engaging people in dialog. It’s perhaps the most powerful. So I was thrilled when I had the opportunity to shoot the promo video for the Windrider Film Forum’s Bay Area festival last year. (For various reasons the video had to remain private as legal clearances were worked out).
The best way to describe this festival is a mini-Sundance of films that deal with existential, philosophical and provocative topics (e.g. strife in the middle east, the truth/myth about global warming, religious freedom or persecution, the modern slave trade, etc.) Most of the films are shorts by filmmakers from all over the world. You can’t help but come away from the event being inspired to go out and make the next “Schindler’s List,” “Passion of the Christ” or “Food Inc.”
Be inspired to use your craft to make a difference in this world. Submit your work to film festivals like Windrider to engage the dialog and get people talking. There are few feelings as wonderful as when your craft has helped to cause positive changes in the world around you.

Nice work on the promo Ron. The festival looks very interesting, there needs to be more venues like this to encourage, promote and distribute more films that make a difference. Thank you for sharing! – Dan
