It’s that favorite time of the year for film geeks, cinephiles and movie lovers around the world gather around the tele, make bets, play drinking games, scream the TV, and marvel at all the fashions. Oscars! In honor of the “Super Bowl” of movies, this week’s creative commons picks are soundtrack-inspired themes. Enjoy!

Warm of Mechanical Heart by Kai Engel (CC-BY). Moody and melancholy.

Cylinder Three by Chris Zabriskie. CC BY. Great for a sci-fi drama.

Monkeys Spinning Monkeys by Kevin MacLeod (CC-BY). For that quirky comedy.

scott holmes

Everest by Scott Holmes (CC-BY). Would make for a great end credits song to a Bourne Identity-style thriller.

Procedure Must be Followed by Loz Kaye (CC-BY). This could be your opening credits scene for an investigative journalism thriller like “Spotlight” or “All the President’s Men.”
