Beast Mode by CuzOh (CC BY): this song is filled with attitude. Great for story about an up-and-commer.
Catch Me (J. Glaze Remix) by Kellee Maize (CC BY): I love Kellee’s work. She was voted as one of my top 5 artists on FreeMusicArchive. This remix would make a good music bed for the proverbial “fall in love” montage of an urban rom-com.
Footprints by CuzOH (CC BY): Here’s another CuzOh song. He’s one of those versatile artists with a great variety of work. If you’re making your own version of “Empire”, then this could be a good opening credits song. (Adult lyrics).
Sly & The Family Jones by MikeSchpitz and Phys Edison (CC BY): First featured in our S.O.S. Atlantis episode, this song was the first rap song I found on FreeMusic Archive that opened my eyes to the amazing hip-hop and R&B talent on the site. This is another braggadocio style song. But it has a cool 70s style riff that gives it a slight nostalgic feel.
I Know (Prod. MVSIC) by Hi-Rez (CC BY): this is a perfect song about a fighter–some kid working his way out of the hood; or boxer working to become the next world champion. Or maybe a white rapper trying to make his way in the world that’ll eat you alive if you don’t come correct. Listen to the end lyrics by Hi-Rez, and you’ll be moved. It’s a poignant message and seems like a personal confession by the artist.
