A full interview with DP and director Ryan Booth on a whole assortment of filmmaking topics.
Every now and then I’ll take one of my guest interviews and make the full, uncut interview available as a bonus for subscribers and premium members. This interview with Ryan Booth is one of the most informative and insightful I’ve had since starting Radio Film School.
Ryan is the director and creator of the one-take acoustic performance film series Serial Box Presents. He’s a music video DP and director, directed Ryan Connolly’s “U.F. Oh Yeah” short, and most recently, was the DP for the behind the scenes making of documentary about The Revenant, A World Unseen. (Note: this interview was conducted last summer before Ryan DP’d that doc. But he makes a reference to some secret project he can’t talk about yet, and I’m almost certain was that doc. I hope to have Ryan on again to talk about that project).
In this bonus, Ryan and I talk about:
- I get his input and feedback on my own project, ImprovJam
- Style vs. art
- Why Ryan Connolly of FilmRiot fame chose Ryan Booth as a DP for “UF Oh Yeah” (funny enough, Ryan Connolly actually texts Ryan during the interview)
- Directing actors
- How he got started as a one-man-band
- Music videos
- Who his inspirations are
- And more
I have no doubt you’ll be inspired.
