Jamie’s point about The Red Balloon is valid. You know from the beginning that the balloon is sentient, so there’s no surprise like here. I think what matters here is that you were “carried away.” That’s what counts. 🙂

The collective mind of the paper airplanes puts me in mind of the Robert Heinlein story “Our Fair City” that featured a mischievous whirlwind that kept treasures in nooks and crannies around the city. Alll in all, I liked the short.
