Yes K9. You get 3GB of free space for each WP.com blog you create. As of now, my bladeronner site only has about 1.5% of my 3GB used. You can purchase additional space if needed. The only files that I upload are web-optimized jpegs, with an occasional pdf every now and then. Video are hosted on Vimeo on YouTube. So I don’t ever see space being an issue for me.
]]>Ultimately, however, I’m not sure if I’m getting much of a bargain using com. I forward my domain to com, but I also have an Amazon S3 account to store and host files. S3 rates vary according to activity and billed monthly. But I noticed bladeronner stores graphics under “files”. I didn’t know that was possible.
]]>Hey Jim,
Check out this article on WordPress’s site for importing from other blogs: http://codex.wordpress.org/Importing_Content
]]>Cool thanks Ron. Great information to know! 🙂
]]>You actually do make a great point David. Depending on what version of WP you’ve installed, you can upload and install WP themes on a self-hosted site via the dashboard much easier. We have a self-hosted site for http://teenidentitymag.com and have done it this way. However, I still remember my wife (who manages it) having to make some more complicated CSS changes to get certain things to work right. And I recall a colleague of mine having problems trying to install the Facebook commenting feature on his blog. However, once you do get them all working, it’s like having a souped up porches. And the term “moderate amount of web savvy” you’ll find is vary wide. Web savvy to one is total greek to another. 🙂
Thanks so much for your input!
